...catching up...

Bullet points because it’s Procrastination Thursday and I really need to be getting onto studying and writing that closed memo for Legal Research. Boo.

• 30 day challenge:  Yesterday was the halfway mark and I’m happy that I’ve been able to post a sketch each day without falling behind.  I guess overall it’s going good?  Not that I expected to suddenly improve leaps and bounds just because I’m sketching something each day, but I’m hoping to create some habits and if nothing else, just to practice.  It’s occurred to me a bit as I go through this and think about my art in general that I’m not a risk taker and I really have no idea why.  I fall to my default things a lot and rarely seem to shift out of the box and there’s no real valid excuse for it.  What’s the worst that can happen, I throw the sketch away?  I do a lot of that anyway, so it seems like I just have this need not to produce things that are utter crap even if I’m the only one who sees it—hence the defaults.  Unfortunately it means I won’t get better if I don’t try and that’s something I need to try to keep in mind when I’m sketching.  Overall, I’ve had fun drawing my various characters and it’s been nice to see some of them in drawn form for either the first time ever or the first time in years.  

• I recently picked up a couple types of special papers needed for upcoming holidays.  Buying papers makes me happy, especially when I haven’t worked with one type before and now get to play around a bit.

• Halloween times! XD Almost here and while I don’t have any special plans for the night, I really do love this season and the fun it brings with it.  It’s an entire holiday about the spookier side of the world and as usual I’m celebrating the lead-up by watching shows about haunted places.  Why I do that, I have no idea because it just freaks me out whenever I’m in old buildings or on old land, but I still do it every year.

• Still working on a few writing prompts [like Arch’s next piece of back story] and a few more that I’ve had ideas on.  That’s one thing my long commute is good for—thinking up new writing prompts.  Need more hours in the day and as soon as I can get them, I’ll be all over them.

• A couple of weeks ago I had some delicious Vietnamese summer rolls with rice noodles, basil and shrimp and I’ve been interested in making my own, but have no idea what the sauce was that was served with them.  It was a brown sauce, sweet and not spicy at all, maybe with a little soy?  Anyone know what I’m talking about or what’s in it?

• I love my characters and their S.O.s, have I said that recently?  They make me so, so happy just to watch as they go about their lives.  Love them.
